College Mindset List?!?!!?

Every Year, Beloit College comes out with a mindset list. This is a list of shows the world view of each generation, and this is my generation! Generation 2014, graduating class. These are my views on the topic present in this "list". I will tell you if I agree with some of these statements and if they are whack. Some of the things i might say will offend you, but in good sport I will keep my views fairly PG-13.

There are certain things that I defiantly agree with. One of which states, that Generation 14 has not ever had the pleasure of wrapping a wire from a corded phone around there hand while talking on it. This is, for me, defiantly  true. when was the last time you saw anybody talking on a phone with a cord?? Even Generation 14's grandparents have been talking on cordless phones, for like ever. Generation 14 is the all about the cell phone. I cannot remember the last time when I was walking around campus and didn't see someone on one. Cell phones are attached to our ears 24/7. They are like another arm, or something like that.

Oh my! Some of these statements I do not agree with at all. This one made me laugh and it made me think do people really not know what this means. It said that when people point at there wrists we do not know that they are asking what time it is. I think that this statement it severely inaccurate for Generation 14. I know that if somebody pointed at there wrist toward me I would definitely, without a doubt, know that they were asking for the time. I really think that people that would not know what they were asking, need to really think about getting some serious help, just kidding. i just think that that is weird that some people would not know that is what they meant.

These statements that Beloit College has posted are funny and exceptionally witty in some cases. Most of them really made me stop and think about what they were saying, but once I thought about them I just couldn't help but laugh. Some of them are defiantly my favorites. I'm going to leave you with my all time favorite and let you ponder on your own. Having hundreds of cable channels but nothing to watch has always been routine. :) Thanks for reading Paiten's post!!!

  1. Besides being quite humorous, I'd have say I pretty much agree with this posting. I think it is generally known by our class that pointing to the wrist means "what time is it" (party time). I have to disagree about your cordless phone opinion though. I remember my parents owning a corded phone when I was younger. And I remember using one or two corded phones in my time. Its not completely unheard of for our class.

  2. Wellllllll...I would have to agree with you about the cell phone's being attached to each and every one of us, but I also disagree with the cord phones because we have one in my house. My home, back on the farm, keeps one in case of power outages because you can't use a cordless phone without power. So lucky me, I've had the opportunity to wrap one around my wrist quite a few times! But your reflection was fun to read :)

  3. I agree with megans comment on this one. I have been on a corded phone before. It is easy to play with the cord when on a corded phone. Cell phones are in our hands 24/7. Our class is smart enough to figure out what pointing at your wrist means. They kinda bash on our class with that one. I agree with you on that.

  4. I agree with you here. Cell phones 24/7, knowing what pointing to the wrist means. But I also agree with Megan's comment. I've had the joy of wrapping the cord around my hand while talking on the phone up until at least 8th grade. But I definitely see where you're coming from!

  6. I liked your sense of humor in your post! I have to disagree with you about the the cordless phones. I did not have the luxury of talking on a cordless phone untill I was well into middle school. However, I agree with the second part of that point about cell phones; they are indeed every place imaginable here on campus and through out the U.S.

  7. I like how lighthearted your post is. I took a very argumentative view with mine, and I like to see a complete flip-side that is well done. I also like your voice in this blog. You are clearly heard with your ideas! Nicely done, my dear.

  8. Your too bubbly haha you even show it in your writing which I find amusing personally. But onto the topic at hand I wish I could have seen the light side of this mindset. I know it had comical appeal and some were funny, but even the ones that were funny to me I did not like. But keep up the optimism it makes me smile like so :)

  10. Like you, I can't believe the underestimate our generation on such little things as pointing to a wrist to ask what time it is. I think they are jumping forward to 2020 instead. Nice job on the blog post.

  12. This is a very good point that the generation of 2014 has always been a technology generation. I like how you said that even our grandparents talk on wireless phones know, even though they really don't have a clue as to how they work :)
