Diversity... What a great topic to talk about. It is one of the most important topics in the world today. Diversity is a big deal, its the thing that everybody is talking about. You cannot have a world without diversity. You cannot have a continent without diversity. Heck, you can't even have a state without diversity. Diversity is all around us. In the class room. In our dorms. On the buses. Even just walking around campus, diversity is smacking you in the face.
For my diversity event I went to the speaker who was talking about a Teenager in Alcatraz. The speaker's name was Tim Tingle. He captivated the audience with the story of Clarence Carnes. He brought most of the audience to tears with the vivid story, he even had me tearing up. Tim Tingle told the story of Alcatraz's youngest inmate. He told the story with great detail and care, for it was not his story to tell. Tim first heard the story of Clarence from one of his good friends that lived in Oklahoma, who had personally known Clarence because they used to run together. (Running together means that they were doing bad stuff together if you didn't know that already) The man that told Tim about Clarence also went to jail, but he is now living like a free bird. I even think that he is currently living in one of the towns that he committed a crime in. I really liked this speaker, he didn't back track on what he was talking about. I learned a lot about diversity and I am looking forward to more diversity programs and speakers.

Let's Tweet It Up!
Twitter.... I actually like Twitter a lot. At first I really disliked it and it was really hard to tweet because I didn't know what to say and I didn't want to sound silly. But after the first couple of tweet I really just tweeted whatever I wanted and now I really like it a lot.
I like to tweet about what I'm feeling and what I'm doing. And I kinda just keep the state of mind that if people didn't want to know what I have to say then they would not have followed me in the first place. So I just say whats in the heart. And sometime I will just tweet random things that I think are funny or just plain stupid. I have even tweeted a couple of thing that I found on YouTube that I thought were funny. My Twitter Account is www.twitter.com/paitenmarie if anybody out there is wanting to know.
I really do find value in my Twitter account, because it lets you post things that you normally wouldn't post on other social networks, like Facebook. And it is really for people that want to know what you are doing so you don't need to be shy about what you post. And it helps you keep tabs on things that you think are important. and if you don't have anything that you think is important or you don't know what/who to follow, or you really don't know how to use Twitter you can use this website to get you started http://mashable.com/guidebook/twitter/.
Overall I think that twitter is a great website for average people. It has helped me learn little things about people that I would not have known otherwise and I hope that my twitter account has helped people see a different side of me that they would not have normally seen. Let's Tweet It Up!

Thee Best-est Everrrrrr
Hmmmm...... Let's seeeee.... when was there a time in my life that I was the best?? How about EVERY DAY! :)
Alright, back to business. I am going to tell you a true story of when I was the best or at my best. Things that I will say, might make some of you readers a little jealous, so I caution you. But if you are feeling a bit adventurous how about you throw caution to the wind and read something worth while, for a change.
I do believe that the time I was at my best was when I had to manage and run our schools International Club. You see, at the beginning of my senior year, at my high school, I ran for International Club President, against a couple somewhat worthy opponents. Let's just say I won by a landslide. Little did I know, my Spanish teacher, who was also the international club sponsor, would be having a baby during my rein as president. With that said, it was all up to mighty Paiten to organize and coordinate all things related to my position, such as, meetings and get-together and the all important international weekend.
International weekend is the main purpose of International Club. It is where we host international students (a.k.a. foreign exchange students) from the surrounding schools. Any member of the club can request that they host a student, but mostly there aren't enough students to go around, because everybody wants to make new friends, so it was mostly first come first serve. Although I did see a few elbows thrown to secure a student, an occasional elbow might have come from me, but who is to know?
So these were the tasks that I was to complete before international weekend. I was to contact all surrounding schools (in a 50 mile radius) and request that I have the means to contact their exchange students and request that they come to our gathering. Do you know how hard it is to get information on foreign exchange students? It's very very VERY hard. I had to make sure that all of the students that had RSVP'd to our little shindig had a place to sleep and a host family to love them (for the weekend). I also had to plan what we all would be doing during international weekend and my teacher wanted a time scheduled itinerary. I had to schedule and book restaurants where we would be eating. I had to go to the store and purchase (with the clubs money) all the snack food and things of that nature.
But no matter how hard I worked and how tedious most of the tasks were, it was all worth it in the end. On international weekend, nothing went wrong, not one thing. Everyone had a great time and we all made new friends. And I think that was when I was the best ever!!

College Mindset List?!?!!?
Every Year, Beloit College comes out with a mindset list. This is a list of shows the world view of each generation, and this is my generation! Generation 2014, graduating class. These are my views on the topic present in this "list". I will tell you if I agree with some of these statements and if they are whack. Some of the things i might say will offend you, but in good sport I will keep my views fairly PG-13.
There are certain things that I defiantly agree with. One of which states, that Generation 14 has not ever had the pleasure of wrapping a wire from a corded phone around there hand while talking on it. This is, for me, defiantly true. when was the last time you saw anybody talking on a phone with a cord?? Even Generation 14's grandparents have been talking on cordless phones, for like ever. Generation 14 is the all about the cell phone. I cannot remember the last time when I was walking around campus and didn't see someone on one. Cell phones are attached to our ears 24/7. They are like another arm, or something like that.
Oh my! Some of these statements I do not agree with at all. This one made me laugh and it made me think do people really not know what this means. It said that when people point at there wrists we do not know that they are asking what time it is. I think that this statement it severely inaccurate for Generation 14. I know that if somebody pointed at there wrist toward me I would definitely, without a doubt, know that they were asking for the time. I really think that people that would not know what they were asking, need to really think about getting some serious help, just kidding. i just think that that is weird that some people would not know that is what they meant.
These statements that Beloit College has posted are funny and exceptionally witty in some cases. Most of them really made me stop and think about what they were saying, but once I thought about them I just couldn't help but laugh. Some of them are defiantly my favorites. I'm going to leave you with my all time favorite and let you ponder on your own. Having hundreds of cable channels but nothing to watch has always been routine. :) Thanks for reading Paiten's post!!!
